HISTORICAL FLOODS

Over the last 80 years, the South River has had 19 recorded floods. Of those, eight were major, four were moderate, and seven were minor. The largest flood happened on November 4th, 1985. At that time, the water crested at 15.3 feet and reached a streamflow of 17,500 cubic feet per second (cfs). The most recent flood occurred on September 17th, 2018. It was a moderate flood with a crest of 11.9 feet and had a streamflow of 9,180 cfs. You can view drone footage of the flood with the link below.
