DROUGHTS

The amount of precipitation, streamflow, groundwater levels, and reservoir levels are used to gauge the severity of droughts. Based on these indicators, the City of Waynesboro has occasionally experienced extreme/exceptional drought conditions. Despite being infrequent, when the extreme/exceptional droughts occur, they often last for several years. In the 1960s, the region experienced harsh drought conditions for nearly a decade. Over that past few years, the area has been experiencing extremely/exceptionally wet conditions.
